The service is broken down into four stages which are customized to fit your unique needs. The plan for each stage is communicated to you in advance for your prior approval.
Stage 1 - Create the Plan
- Define project parameters including geography, scope, and general licensing terms
- Develop a proposed acquisition timeline and plan for your IP
- Identify the appropriate target licensee profile, for example, are you targeting , Commercial Development Partners, Research Organizations, etc.
Stage 2 - Research the Market
- Produce a detailed and thorough analysis of the specific market segment that will help us identify potential target licensees. This analysis will include the following topics:
- Identify companies or universities doing related work
- Identify related products and technologies and research
- Identify deals and alliances in the market segment
- Identify venture or corporate related work
- Identify market size and trends
- Identify relevant news items
Stage 3 - Market the IP
- Approve or add to the target licensee list
- Produce the IP marketing and PR campaign materials
- Begin the PR campaign to target the selected companies
- Distribute the marketing material to the selected companies and perform their initial qualification according to your stated business goals
- Follow up with direct phone calls to confirm interest levels
- Provide periodic updates to you so you know the up-to-the minute status
- If potential target(s) are identified, begin Stage 4, otherwise, refine the search and go back to Stage 1
Stage 4 - Make the Deal
- Introduce you to the selected targets and begin deal discussions
- Secure appropriate legal counsel, if needed
- Recommend an IP Valuation
- Produce an initial term sheet for your review and approval
- Assist with and/or direct the deal negotiations
- Arrange the closing and transfer of funds
